The Go-Ahead Group plc today announce that Govia, its joint venture with Keolis (Go-Ahead 65%, Keolis 35%), has been shortlisted by the Department for Transport to bid for the south eastern franchise.
Ongoing upgrade work as part of the Thameslink Programme means that – from Sunday 21 May – some of Southeastern’s Sunday services from Charing Cross will go back to running in to and out of Cannon Street.
A spokesman said: “We understand no one wants to pay more for their journey, which is why we’ve frozen some of our fares for the past three years. But like any business, we sometimes need to adjust our prices. When this happens we always try to keep any increases to a minimum.

The much anticipated new mural was unveiled at Tunbridge Wells station on Monday 27 March. The Mayor and Mayoress revealed the brand new piece of art, which tells 2500 years of local history, at the event attended by local residents and artists.
On Monday 27 March, Dame Kelly Holmes accepted a £20,000 donation from Southeastern on behalf of her charity, Dame Kelly Holmes Trust, at an event held in the café that the British Olympian now owns in her home town of Hildenborough, Kent.
This must surely be the toy of choice for any train loving tot – a Bigjigs wooden replica of a Southeastern high speed train.
A spokesman at Southeastern said: “We welcome any changes to the Department for Transport's franchise specification that will further improve services for passengers.
Artist Chris Burke has been commissioned to tell the more than 2,500 year tale of Tunbridge Wells from the Iron Age to the present day in a huge mural at the town’s main railway station.
A project to refurbish one third of Southeastern’s entire rail fleet has hit a major milestone as more than 50 per cent of the trains earmarked for this work have now been completed.
