    Two of Britain’s fastest domestic passenger trains have been given an eye-catching makeover with special ‘face mask’ artwork to remind passengers travelling across the network of the importance of wearing face coverings.

    • Southeastern will also highlight dedications to loved ones and family

    Southeastern trains toot salute for carers

    • Up to 50 trains will be taking part across London, Kent and East Sussex at 8pm on Thursday 23 April
    • Their special horn toots will spell out N-H-S in Morse code
    • The public is being encouraged to listen out for the special toot and show their support on social media using #TootforCarers

    Train companies follow Southeastern to offer free travel to those fleeing domestic abuse during coronavirus lockdown

    • Train companies announce they will cover the cost of train tickets for anyone travelling to refuge accommodation while coronavirus lockdown measures are in force, in a joint initiative with Women’s Aid.
    • Announcement comes in response to campaigners reporting an increase in domestic violence reports since coronavirus lockdown measures came into force.
    • The industry-wide scheme follows the successful launch of a similar initiative by Southeastern prior to the coronavirus outbreak.

    Southeastern confirms new Direct Award Contract

    Southeastern today confirms that the Department for Transport (DfT) has awarded a Direct Award Contract to Govia (a subsidiary of the Go Ahead Group (65%) and Keolis (35%)) to continue operating the Southeastern franchise.
