Southeastern passengers will soon benefit from 68 extra carriages which will be added to trains on the busiest services from mid-September.

Passengers travelling on Southeastern trains over the August Bank Holiday and the following four days should plan their travel in advance as none of its services will be running to Charing Cross, Waterloo East or London Bridge. These services – which will be running to an amended timetable - will be diverted to alternative London stations including Victoria, Blackfriars, Cannon Street and Waterloo while Network Rail complete further engineering work at London Bridge, as part of the Thameslink Programme.

The Go-Ahead Group plc today announce that Govia, its joint venture with Keolis (Go-Ahead 65%, Keolis 35%), has been shortlisted by the Department for Transport to bid for the south eastern franchise.
Ongoing upgrade work as part of the Thameslink Programme means that – from Sunday 21 May – some of Southeastern’s Sunday services from Charing Cross will go back to running in to and out of Cannon Street.
A spokesman said: “We understand no one wants to pay more for their journey, which is why we’ve frozen some of our fares for the past three years. But like any business, we sometimes need to adjust our prices. When this happens we always try to keep any increases to a minimum.
