Teams of decorators have been travelling around the network painting station buildings, railings and lampposts – following a previous deep clean of each.
In total, it took the teams 120, 000 hours to complete the mammoth task.
And a whopping 26,000 gallons of paint - enough to fill 14,765 average-sized household baths – was used.
The work forms part of a refurbishment programme of all the stations we manage, which includes improving toilet facilities, cycle parking and platform areas.
In fact, Strood, in Kent, and Herne Hill, in south London, are the only two stations that have not been painted – as they are about to undergo major building work to improve them.
The project forms part of our £70 million improvement and investment programme.
This has seen us deep clean all its trains, provide 300 extra front line employees, improve real time information - including more display screens at stations and an in house 24/7 Twitter team – and the ongoing refurbishment of one third of our entire train fleet.
David Wornham, our Passenger Services Director, said: “We know that arriving at a bright and welcoming station makes a huge impression. We’re really pleased to have finished this work, as we are determined to drive through improvements across our entire network for all our passengers.”
