Southeastern train services suspended during planned strike action: Saturday 1 and Wednesday 5 October

Southeastern train services suspended during planned strike action: Saturday 1 and Wednesday 5 October: Strike action-2

Reduced services: Saturday 8 October

  • Services will run from London terminals on Sunday 2 October from 07.00 to support travel to the London Marathon
  • Normal services expected to resume: 07:00 Monday 3 October

Southeastern will not be able to run any train services during planned strike action on Saturday 1 October or Wednesday 5 October.

On Sunday 2 October, trains from London terminals will be available to be from around 07:00 to help runners and supporters get to start of the London Marathon at Blackheath, Greenwich and Maze Hill

A limited service is expected to run during further strike action on Saturday 8 October.

Scott Brightwell, Southeastern Operations and Safety Director, said:

“If these strikes go ahead there’ll be significant disruption. We are unable to run any Southeastern trains on the 1st or the 5th. We’re expecting to run a very limited service on the 8th. We strongly advise our customers to avoid travelling at these times.

“We recognise the inconvenience this causes and offer our sincere apologies. We continue to work as hard as we can to get normal services resumed as quickly as we can.”

We also understand the need to keep our customers up to date on service timetables and we’ll continue to provide detailed information on our website at southeasternrailway.co.uk/industrial-action.

Our website also provides information on how to claim a refund for those customers who have already bought a ticket.

Refunds and compensation

Customers that have already bought a ticket can apply for a refund if they are unable to travel:

  • Daily ticket holders can claim a full refund with no admin’ fee if they choose not to travel.
  • Advance ticket holders can either apply for a full refund with no admin’ fee or return to the original retailer for an eVoucher, to cover the cost of a future ticket. eVouchers are valid for 12 months.
  • Season ticket holders (Flexi, monthly or longer) can use Southeastern’s ‘Delay Repay’ to claim refunds in the event of not being able to travel during periods of industrial action. We ask these customers to select the reason for delay as ‘Industrial Action – did not travel’. Flexi ticket holders, wishing to receive ‘Delay Repay’ refunds must have activated a pass for the day being claimed.
  • Weekly ticket holders are recommended not to purchase a Weekly Season ticket that include periods of industrial action. Customers that already have a Weekly ticket, should go to the Southeastern refunds page on our website and claim a partial refund. Weekly ticket holders can claim ‘Delay Repay’ if their train is delayed or cancelled on the day, or only if a ‘Do Not Travel’ warning is in place.
  • Customers are reminded that if their trains are delayed by 15 minutes or more, they are able to claim ‘Delay Repay’ compensation.
