Southeastern supports Pride Canterbury

Southeastern supports Pride Canterbury: #trainbow-1-2

  • For the first time, Southeastern is proudly supporting Pride Canterbury, taking place on Saturday 15 June

For the first time, Southeastern is supporting Pride Canterbury, which is taking place tomorrow, Saturday 15 June.

Passengers travelling on the network to Saturday’s event may have noticed that last year, the train company revealed its rainbow makeover of Britain’s only high speed rail line, with the launch of #Trainbow, demonstrating Southeastern’s commitment to the diverse communities that it serves across south east London and Kent.

Those attending this year’s parade will spot many of Southeastern’s employees who will be taking part in the celebrations, promoting and celebrating diversity and inclusivity within the workplace - an initiative that Southeastern has championed internally over the past year, with the launch of the company’s first ever LGBT+ colleague network group.

As part of the sponsorship and support of the event, Southeastern will be specially decorating its stations at Canterbury East and Canterbury West and ensuring Pride-goers feel fully-welcomed – many of whom will be travelling to the event by train.

The specially-livered #trainbow train will also be bringing the love to LGBT+ Pride events in London and Kent throughout the summer. It will be running to Pride Canterbury on Saturday, Pride in London (Saturday 6 July), Folkestone Pride (Saturday 20 July) and Margate Pride (Saturday 10 August). Tunbridge Wells Pride will take place on Saturday 17 August, and Southeastern will also be attending and supporting Hastings Pride on August 25.

Scott Maynard, Human Resources Director at Southeastern, said:

“We’re proud to be supporting Pride Canterbury and it is a cause that our colleagues care deeply about. We are committed to equality and inclusion, particularly among those who identify as LGBT+ and are thankful to LGBT+ sOUTheastern who are driving us forward, and helping us to do all that we can to create a working environment that is inclusive for all. We wish everyone attending Saturday’s Pride event in Canterbury a very happy day”.
