The well-known local event was as busy as ever with people queuing up to get involved in the day's festivities. With a number of things on offer from pony rides to can shooting, face painting to the annual dog show and much more, there was plenty for the whole family to get involved in.
Danny Hackett, Southeastern’s Area Manager, who is responsible for the event and whose Nan has recently been diagnosed with the illness, said: “As a team we organise a number of activities throughout the year to support various charities. My wife and I lost her Granddad last year to the illness. Having seen the devastating effect dementia has on a person and their family, I was really happy when everyone agreed to support Alzheimer’s Society this year.
“Thank you so much to those who came along and got involved and also to anyone and everyone who helped. It really is a community affair and we all pitch in. It was a great day and I’m really happy to hear that people had a good time. We’re already looking forward to planning the next one!”The event is just part of the fundraising the team are doing for the national charity. Only a month ago the local team, including 30 Southeastern employees, walked 33 miles from London Victoria to Dartford station to raise awareness and fundraise towards their £10,000 target.
