Southeastern has launched a range of digital Railcards available to buy on its app and website.

Railcards have always been a great way to save money when buying a train ticket, and now with the introduction of Southeastern’s new digital Railcards customers can save money with the convenience of a digital Railcard on their phones.

Digital Railcards give savings of a third off the price of train tickets and can be bought from the Southeastern app and website, with Railcards to suit everyone.

Southeastern customers can choose from the 16-17 Saver, 16-25, 26-30, Two Together, Family & Friends, Senior or Network Railcards depending on their travel needs. For customers who aren’t sure which Railcard is right for them, Southeastern has a handy Railcard calculator to help customers find out.

Digital Railcards are stored in the Southeastern app, so customers will  always know their tickets and Railcard are all in the same place .

Astrid Agnew, Head of Digital, said:

"We're always looking for ways to save our customers time and money. Digital Railcards are a really easy way for our customers to buy and store Railcards, offering the same savings and benefits as paper Railcards.

“To help make our customers lives even easier they can also ‘favourite’ their digital Railcard so the discount can be automatically applied to any journey searches made on the Southeastern app and website.”

“Southeastern doesn’t charge online booking fees which also helps our customers looking for their money to go further”.

More information about digital Railcards, including a handy railcard calculator and ‘how-to’ guide, is available on the Southeastern website at: southeasternrailway.co.uk/digitalrailcards.

Frequently asked questions:

What is a digital Railcard?

Digital Railcards are a convenient alternative to traditional paper Railcards. Instead of having to bring your paper railcard with you every time you travel, Digital Railcards are stored in the Southeastern app. This means customers’ tickets and Railcards will be stored in the same place.

Customers can buy digital Railcards from the Southeastern website and app.

Digital Railcards offer the same great savings as paper Railcards - they're just easier to buy, store and use.

How should a digital Railcard be used?

Customers should download the Southeastern app to buy and store a digital Railcard, which can be bought from the Southeastern website or app, and it will automatically be available in the customer’s account.

When purchased for the first time, it can be ‘favourited’ in the Southeastern app so the discount can be automatically applied every time a customer buys tickets.

If a member of staff asks to see the Railcard, the digital Railcard in the Southeastern app should be shown.

How can a digital Railcard be renewed?

Southeastern will send customers an email or app message before their digital Railcard is due to expire, they can then renew their digital Railcard through the Southeastern website or app, within 30 days of the expiry date, by logging in to their account and selecting the type of Railcard they want to renew, then following the easy steps. Once payment has been confirmed, the renewed digital Railcard is available to use straight away.
