Display screens across the network have been changed to celebrate Shrove Tuesday, bringing a little humour to a chilly day in February.
Passengers have joined in the fun on social media, with Emily (@emilyheydon1) posting ‘Waiting for my train to St Pancake – best day of the year’.
No Context Brits (@NoContextBrits), a Twitter account that ‘celebrates all things great about Britain’, posted a photo of a display board showing London St Pancake which has been liked around 6,000 times.
John Till, Head of Information Delivery at Southeastern, said: “Changing the name of London St Pancras has become a bit of an annual tradition and we know a lot of our passengers look out for the ‘St Pancake’ signs. If we can bring a smile to people’s faces then it’s worth doing – British humour is quite unique and it’s great to be able to bring everyone in on the joke.”
Gemma Allen (@gemma_allen1) was just one Southeastern passenger who spotted a ‘St Pancake’ sign on the network.
