Check before you travel - New Southeastern timetable starts next month adding an extra 220 services per week

Check before you travel - New Southeastern timetable starts next month adding an extra 220 services per week: City Beam at Cannon Street

  • Southeastern’s improved timetable starts on Sunday 15 December with an extra 44 services per each day, totalling 220 per week.
  • There will be 12 more of the Cannon Street ‘Rounder’ services at peak times along the Woolwich and Sidcup routes.
  • Extra off-peak services have also been added between Victoria and Orpington via Herne Hill to offer a full ‘turn up and go’ Metro service with four trains per hour.

Southeastern is reminding customers that its enhanced timetable will start in a month’s time.

There will be an extra 44 services each week day in the new timetable that runs from Sunday 15 December through to Saturday 17 May.

More of the convenient Cannon Street Rounder services are being put on with an extra 12 running each week day on the Woolwich and Sidcup lines.

The Rounders increase capacity for stations along the route, improve access to the hugely popular Elizabeth Line, and link the Sidcup route to New Cross and Cannon Street.

Further changes will see the service frequency increase to six trains an hour at Deptford, Greenwich, Maze Hill and Westcombe Park station, with a 10-minute interval at peak times.

At Charlton, Woolwich Arsenal, Plumstead, Abbey Wood and Slade Green there will be eight trains an hour at peak times.

To improve the waiting time for travel between Abbey Wood and Dartford trains will run at 15-minute intervals.

The Victoria to Orpington service via Herne Hill is being boosted to four trains per hour during the off-peak, matching the availability at peak times, to offer an all-day turn up and go Metro service.

Another addition will see two more of the evening Charing Cross to Maidstone East services extended onto Ashford International.

The December timetable change is a further increase in Southeastern’s service levels across south-east London, Kent and parts of East Sussex.

Customers are also being advised to check their regular train times as some changes were needed to accommodate the extra services, particularly on the Woolwich line, and there were other adjustments to provide earlier services into London or to give pupils more time to get on and off certain trains for their school journeys.

Details of all the December amendments are available in online journey planners and the full timetables have been published on the Southeastern website.

Scott Brightwell, Southeastern’s Operations and Safety Director said:

“I’m really pleased that we are able to offer customers more services and more opportunities to travel with us in the December timetable.

“Demand is rising and we recently set a record for post-pandemic journeys when over 400,000 passengers travelled through our London terminals. The extra 220 services we are adding each week will help us to meet this and future growth.”

“There have been a number of changes to accommodate the extra services, so please check before you travel either in online journey planners, in our app, or you can view the full timetables on our website.”
