Southeastern Ghost Train departs for TRAINsylvania this Halloween

Southeastern Ghost Train departs for TRAINsylvania this Halloween: SE pumpkin at Pluckley

  • This Halloween during half-term, Southeastern invites customers to embark on a journey with a difference to Pluckley, reputed to be the most haunted place in the UK.
  • Play experts have gathered some of the best Halloween based games for customers to enjoy while travelling on the specially selected service from Charing Cross.
  • Customers, both young and old, are invited to join Southeastern and renowned Toyologist Peter Jenkinson for the special journey on Thursday 31st October.

There’ll be some spooktacular happenings aboard the Southeastern “Trainsylvania” service to Pluckley this Halloween.

Southeastern, in partnership with Toyologist Peter Jenkinson, Immersive storytellers and Board game experts are hoping the special service of board games and entertainment will help to get passengers into the spirit of All Saints' Eve.

Infamous for being the most haunted place in the United Kingdom passengers from Charing Cross will enjoy tales of Ghoulish goings-on and Spooktacular stories en-route to Pluckley where they can embark for an insight into how the village attained its status.  There's another opportunity to listen to chilling tales - via the Southeastern 'Hop on Board' podcast series featuring Rav Wilding as he takes a journey into some of Kent's unsolved mysteries.

The games available on the train are designed for travellers of all ages, and there will be enough to keep an entire carriage enterTRAINed. As a special treat, passengers who participate in the games will be allowed to take them home:

To add to the Halloween spirit, there will be a bespoke carved pumpkin featuring the Southeastern logo and a #ghosttrain decal for the windows, perfect for capturing those Instagram-worthy moments. Costumed game experts and a storyteller will ensure an all-around strong Halloween tale for customers.

Peter Jenkinson, toy expert and board game journalist said:

“What a great way to enjoy Halloween, hands-on with appropriately themed games for this increasingly popular celebration. We’re always striving to get more people playing together more often in the toy business and this trip gives us yet another great excuse in an amazing and immersive environment to enjoy the experience fully.”

Matt Hawken, Area Manager at Southeastern, added:

“We’re thrilled to offer our customers a unique and thrilling experience this Halloween with our Ghost Train to Pluckley. It’s a fantastic opportunity to collaborate with games companies and enjoy some spooky games and create unforgettable memories. We can’t wait to see everyone in their Halloween best!”

“This is all part of our efforts to make it even easier for customers in London, Kent and parts of Sussex to leave the car at home and use the train".

Becky McKinlay, Head of Marketing at Big Potato, said:

"We're delighted to be part of this on-board experience, anything that gets more people having fun together is a massive tick for us".
