LONDON, 21 October: Visit family friendly hot spots in London, Kent and East Sussex for less this half-term with Southeastern. Families can save on travel costs with Southeastern’s ‘Kids for a Quid’ offer where tickets cost just £1 for children aged 5-15 when travelling with an adult with a valid ticket, and under 5s go free.
To help families find the perfect day out, Southeastern has curated a list of destinations across its network, including weather friendly options for what is an unpredictable forecast next week!
Granary Square
Spend some time exploring the area around St Pancras International. With nature closer than you think at Camley Street Natural Park, the famous Platform 9 ¾ from the Harry Potter books, an interactive Digital Playground at Samsung KX and the chance to grow and create at The Story Garden, take a rest and admire the view at Regents Canal Towpath.
Canterbury
Well known for its beautiful Cathedral, the winding streets of this city have a lot to offer. From a sweet treat at The Fudge Kitchen, interactive family events at the Beany House of Art + Knowledge and the historic Canterbury Roman Museum, there’s enough to do whatever the kids are into.
Margate
There’s something for everyone in Margate including fish and chips on the beach, riddles and a web of clues at the Escapement, Turner Contemporary and the Shell grotto, decorated with 4.6 million shells and 70ft of winding underground passages.
Greenwich
Greenwich has tonnes of Great British maritime history and is a must see on the Southeastern network – the musts for your trip are the Cutty Sark, the Royal Observatory and the historic Greenwich market which has enough stalls to keep little ones occupied for hours.
Broadstairs
Track the trail around town and visit Morellis for picture perfect ice-cream sundaes or simply chill on the one of the seven beach and bays available – or all of them if you have the time! Pick up a Coastal Explorer pack full of family activities, equipment and trails to keep the family entertained.
Tunbridge Wells
This historic spa town has been attracting visitors for over 400 years. There are lots of beautiful open spaces for walks but if you need to stay dry, Chimera is an indoor climbing centre for kids to let off some energy and the Hollywood Bowl is close by if they need something a little closer to the ground.
Dover
Travel to Dover on Southeastern’s high-speed trains and check out interesting sites including Dover Castle (with lots on for half term), South Foreland lighthouse and an abundance of family friendly museums including the Dover Travel Museum.
Deal
With its beautiful coastline, dotted with history including Deal Castle, and an arty vibe, with Joanne Harmer Gallery & The Secret Garden Studio, you’re guaranteed to enjoy your visit to Deal. Why not take a stroll to the end of the pier and admire the stunning view?
