Southeastern’s Summer Offer delivers reduced-price tickets for Londoners looking to escape the city heat to destinations in Kent and East Sussex for as little as £15. Running until the 18th August, Off-Peak Day Return tickets to 12 of the most popular destinations across the South East will be slashed by around 30%[1].
Coinciding with the school summer holidays, the offer can be used alongside Southeastern’s ‘Kids for £1’ – meaning a family trip to the coast is more affordable than ever before[2].
Kent and East Sussex boast some of the best day-out destinations from London. For example:
- Travel by train from London to the historic towns of Rochester for as little as £15;
- Cool down and go for a paddle in the sea at Ramsgate, Broadstairs, Margate, Hastings and Whitstable for just £20;
- Build the sandcastle you’ve always dreamed of at the beaches near Dover, Deal or Folkestone for £25.
For sun-seekers looking to enjoy a family day-out with buckets and spades, beautiful Broadstairs can be reached from London in under an hour and twenty minutes. Boasting not just one, but seven stunning beaches and bays, the charming seaside town is a favourite amongst families.
Margate’s stunning golden sands are the perfect spot for those looking to cool down with a paddle, whilst Deal is best known for being one of the UK’s most colourful coastal towns. If you’re more of a foodie, why not spend a day discovering Whitstable’s thriving art community whilst indulging on its world-famous oysters?
Southeastern’s Summer Offer incorporates inland destinations as well as coastal resorts, meaning come rain or sunshine train travellers can continue to discover enchanting places across the South East, such as Canterbury’s renowned cathedral which is classified as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Running until the 18th August, the Summer Offer destinations form part of Southeastern’s hidden gems campaign – helping passengers discover unique places across the network from micro pubs and artisan crafts to picturesque beaches.
David Wornham, Passenger Services Director said: “With the school summer holidays now in full swing, we know that our passengers are most likely to make a spontaneous trip to the seaside these coming weeks.
“With Kent’s most popular coastal and inland destinations included in our offer and tickets available to purchase on the day of travel, we hope more passengers will be able to enjoy a perfect day-trip via Southeastern for less this summer.”
