Unveiling of commemorative Blue Plaque at Tonbridge Station for railway pioneer Colonel Stephens.  10th July at 12 noon. 

 

A blue plaque to commemorate Colonel Stephens who brought the railway to Tenterden and the Rother Valley is to be unveiled at Tonbridge station.  This year marks the 150th anniversary of Holman Fred Stephens’ birth.  For half a century, he ran his operations from a property in Salford Terrace, Tonbridge.

In attendance and available for interview will be:

  • Ian Legg, Chairman of the Kent & East Sussex Railway
